KDA developed much of the historic centre of Killyleagh with the provision of 4 period properties on High Street as retail and business outlets, the development of the Harbour Area, Sloane Square and Scenic Coastal Walkway.

It oversees all potential development projects to maintain or improve the built and natural environment and conform to the Rural Village Conservation status of KDA in 1992. Currently KDA promotes Killyleagh as a tourist destination.
